Nervous system
Settle
These are short, self-guided exercises. They are not therapy. Keep your eyes open if that feels safer. Stop the moment you want to — stopping counts. The first set is free. The longer somatic, regulation, and mindfulness library is Plus.
Free
Feet on the floor
2 minA short way back into the room you are actually in.
When your mind is ahead of you, behind you, or nowhere in particular.
A longer exhale
1–4 minA gentle breath with a longer out-breath. No holding. No forcing.
When you feel sped up, tight, or like you cannot quite land.
Five senses, lightly
4 minName what is here, one sense at a time. Skip any sense you do not want.
Flashbacks, spacing out, or a mind that will not stop explaining.
Temperature and pressure
3 minUse ordinary sensation — cool water, a firm cushion, your feet — to change the channel.
When you feel frozen, or when you feel too much and need something simple.
Where you are right now
2 minA plain check: sped up, in the middle, or far away. Then a matched next step.
When you are not sure what would help, or you keep trying the wrong thing.
A steady rhythm
2 minSlow left-right tapping. Eyes open. You can use your knees if a hug does not feel okay.
When you want something rhythmic and physical, without a story.
Neutral, then back
5 minStay with something ordinary. Only if you want, touch a harder feeling for one breath, then come back.
When you are a bit steadier and want practice moving your attention on purpose.
A place that is safe enough
5 minA real or imagined place that is tolerable. Not perfect. Not a test.
When you want somewhere for your attention to rest.
A little movement
3 minShake out your hands, stand if you want, and let the body finish a stress cycle without a workout.
Numbness, heaviness, or energy that has nowhere to go.
Somatic
Plus
Look around, slowly
4 minLet your eyes travel the room and land where they land. A basic orienting practice.
Scanning, jumpy attention, or the sense that you are not quite in the room.
The edges of your body
5 minNotice the outside of you — clothes, skin, the chair — without going into the middle.
Feeling blurred, too open, or unsure where you stop and the room starts.
A longer out-breath, with sound
3 minA sigh or a soft hum on the way out. No holding the breath in.
A tight chest, a jaw that will not unclench, or the tail end of being very sped up.
Push, then let go
3 minPress against something solid, then release. The strength is the point, not relaxation.
Anger with nowhere to go, frozen muscles, or wanting to feel that you can act.
Nervous system
Plus
Up, or down
4 minPick one direction. Come up if you are far away. Come down if you are sped up. Not both.
When you know you feel too much, or too little, and the usual exercise is the wrong way.
The smallest piece
6 minStay with one mild sensation for a few seconds, then come all the way back. Practice, not processing.
When you want to build the sense that a feeling can be visited and left.
Something slightly okay
6 minA longer stay with one neutral or slightly pleasant thing in the room. Nothing to fix.
When you are steady enough to practise resting your attention, not only surviving a spike.
After the spike
8 minA short sequence for the minutes after alarm has already peaked. Not for the middle of it.
When the worst has passed and you are shaky, tired, or ashamed of how big it was.
Mindfulness
Plus
Sit, with your eyes open
8 minA short mindfulness sit. Attention on sound or breath. Coming back is the practice, not staying perfect.
When you want a meditation that does not ask you to close your eyes or go inside a memory.
Sounds, without a story
5 minListen to what is already here. Near, far, pleasant, annoying. No meaning to make.
A busy mind, or wanting mindfulness that stays outside the body.
Thoughts as weather
6 minNotice a thought, name it thinking, and return to your feet. You are not asked to believe it or fight it.
Looping thoughts, self-blame, or a mind that will not stop explaining.
One kinder line
3 minA single sentence you can actually stand. Not a performance of loving yourself.
Shame after a hard moment, or the habit of speaking to yourself like an enemy.
Ten steps
4 minWalk ten steps with your attention in your feet, then stop. A moving meditation with an end.
Restlessness, or sitting practices that make you feel trapped.
A body scan that skips
8 minMove attention around the outline of the body. Any area can be skipped, including the ones people usually insist on.
Wanting a body-based meditation without a full scan of places that do not feel safe.
